Students practiced using a protractor to measure angles and we moved into perimeter and area of shapes. We continued updating our interactive notebooks with examples and definitions related to concepts from this unit. Writing - We finished our "Which Witch" writing piece and participated in a writing activity on Friday. Students were read their descriptive paragraphs about each drawing and had to figure out which witch was which! Science - We began our unit on plants and energy, with a focus on food chains and webs. Friday, students did an experiment making "Oobleck," a non-Newtonian substance that is simultaneously a liquid and a solid. Check our class photos for more! Social Studies - We began lesson 2 on physical and human features of New Hampshire. Students learned about the ever-changing landscape of NH, including notches and valleys dug out by recurring ice ages. We also began lesson 2 vocabulary. Microsociety - We introduced the MACS bank and students were given a lesson about how and why banks are used in society. With their own bank accounts, students will be responsible for withdrawing money using their checkbooks. We did a practice lesson on how to write a check and the importance of using checks with their accounts. We also discussed which skills would be desirable for eager employees looking to join the workforce at one of our four ventures! Students will have to complete resumes and interview for positions.
