Literacy - We continued our series of nonfiction informational literacy work, with the theme focusing on African-American contributors. We continued our group novel study for Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. Students continue to receive 15-20 minutes of independent reading time during literacy, with guided reading questions to ensure comprehension of text.
Math - We completed our 3rd unit (fractions and decimals) and finished the assessment on Friday. We continue to use Xtra Math in the computer lab to run operation drills daily. All students have their own log-ins and can access this material at home to practice. Unit 4 begins after break! Writing - We continued our grammar unit with a focus on verb tenses. We will spend a few more weeks on grammar before moving back to individual writing pieces. We continued typing instruction in the computer lab. We will look to type up our previously completed final drafts of writing assignments to add to our portfolio's. Social Studies - Students finished their state posters and presented their work to their classmates. The posters came out great! Check our class photos for more! Microsociety - Marketplace was buzzing with all students reporting to work and using their well-earned Microbucks to buy local goods. Peace keepers mind the hallways and ensure all citizens are following MicroCity laws during this period. ** Students continued Health class this week.
