4th graders on their field trip to the NH State House and Historical Society!
The latest integrity award winners show off their ribbons received for demonstrating good integrity! Way to do the right thing when adults aren't watching :)
4th graders use magnifying glasses to identify properties in rocks (color, luster, texture, patterns). They then use the properties to determine whether the rock is igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic.
4th graders practice using measurement tools by sliding playing cards as close as they could to the edge of the desk, then they measured the distance in centimeters, then they flipped the card over and multiplied the distance by the value of the card. Lowest score wins!
4th graders participate in a scavenger hunt around the classroom identifying properties of rocks and minerals.
Ariella and Turner kick off our 1st round of debates. Students were allowed to read their arguments from their journals and were graded on content. Looking forward to round 2 in which students have to emphasize proper body language along with their content.

In recognition of Veteran's Day, local Veteran's came to MACS to share some stories about their time in the armed forces during our November Town Hall Meeting.

Which Witch is Which? 4th graders were tasked with anonymously coloring in a detailed witch drawing and writing a descriptive writing piece about their which. After a student shared their writing piece, everyone had to determine Which Witch was Which!
4th graders at MACS participate in the Walk-A-Thon through Mines Falls on November 1st. Thank you to all parent volunteers who helped make our event a success!

Students practice showing what they know during the Food Chain Game. Students draw cards that each detail a producer, consumer, or decomposer and try and fit them into a food chain. Watch out! If you have a card that does not fit in your chain, it can be stolen by the next player! I created several decks and students are welcome to borrow to play at home to practice.
Newly appointed bank manager, Nithin, took a moment to go over some of the expectations for remaining positions that need to be filled at the bank. He discussed duties of bank tellers, data entry clerks, and administrative assistants.
Mascots from our community partner, Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union, were on full display during our October town hall meeting. A representative from the bank fielded questions from the student body in regards to saving money, and students were able to make real deposits into their checking accounts!
Students vying for a government position take turns reading their speeches to the student body. Students voted in a new President, Vice President, Senators, and Class Representatives.
4th graders are welcomed to the 1st grade classroom for a buddy reading session!
