Literacy - We began our read new aloud book, The Fear Place, and continued working in our reading groups. Students stop to make predictions and text-to-text and text-to-self connections.
Math - We continued our unit on fractions with a focus on comparing fractions with like and unlike denominators. This can be a difficult skill for those still struggling with multiplication. My 4th graders have been doing a great job! Keep up the multiplication practice! Writing - We began our grammar unit with a focus on how to correctly make nouns possessive based on whether they are singular or plural. We also practiced spelling changes from singular to plural nouns. 4th graders will take a break from full writing pieces to work on grammar mechanics for the next few weeks. Science - We finished our unit on electricity (test on Thursday, 1/28) We reviewed the study guide for the test on Monday (1/25). Our next chapter is on magnetism...stay tuned for more experiment photots! Microsociety - Ventures and Marketplace are still on break while some students change jobs and businesses are using this time to learn from previous operations to enhance their business going forward. Mission statements and goals were created, and each venture hired a financial manager. We are looking to reopen the marketplace by the end of the month! ** Students continued Health class this week.
