Literacy - This week we continued reading "The Tiger Rising" as our 4th grade read aloud book. We are focusing on character traits and evolution of characters throughout a story.
Math - We completed our first assessment from Unit 1 related to digit/place value, rounding/estimation, and triple digit addition and subtraction. We continued to work on strategies to decode word problems, and introduced addition war into our math games! Writing - We are working on our opinion writing piece "Is TV good or bad?" Students are preparing their rough drafts which include 3 reasons for your opinion with appropriate supporting details Science - We began our unit on Rocks, Minerals, and the Rock Cycle. We had discussion about the formation of igneous rocks. Metamorphic and Sedimentary still to come, with experiments planned for our first week in our new school! MicroSociety - Lessons involved introducing business ventures and ideas. Our class representatives, Lily Salman and Alicia Cuhna, worked with 2nd grade teacher, Ms. Walchak, to help draft our school's Constitution. We had our second town meeting on Friday afternoon, and citizenship awards were passed out to earning students!
