Literacy - We completed our read aloud book, "The Tiger Rising" and wrote in our reading notebooks about character evolution throughout the story. Students reviewed and updated their reading logs with newly finished books, and we discussed what makes a book easy, just right, or a challenge.
Math - We began Geometry, focusing on points, lines, line segments, and rays. We worked in our interactive notebooks and completed workbook pages related to this concepts. Students used their new whiteboards to reinforce math concepts we had covered so far this school year. Writing - We continued work on our Which Witch writing piece. Students are writing descriptive paragraphs about their own witches using all five senses. The focus is content-appropriate adjectives to help describe a scene. Science - We finished our rock cycle unit with an experiment about sedimentary rocks. Students used starburst and Nerd candies to recreate layered sedimentary rock. We reviewed the unit on Thursday for our Rock Cycle test on Friday. Social Studies - We finished preparing our social studies vocabulary and reviewed with a game on Thursday for the vocabulary quiz on Friday Microsociety - Students continued to campaign and run for government positions within our Microsociety. Students who chose to run for House of Representative and Senate prepared and delivered speeches. I am very pleased to announce 4th grader, Natalie Charlton, was elected Senator for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. Another congratulations goes out to Alicia Cunha, who was voted in as our 4th grade rep for House of Representatives.
