Literacy - We continued our read aloud book, Maniac Magee. Students follow along, answering questions using reading group prompts in their Reading/Writing binders. This weeks focus was on making predictions and citing cause and effects using evidence from the text.
Math - We continue doing daily multiplication drills to try help remember our math facts. We worked in our interactive notebooks with a focus on factors and factor pairs. We introduced the game "Factor Captor" and played a few rounds to help students practice making factor pairs. I encourage parents to play along at home using this worksheet. Your child can explain the rules! Writing - We self-assessed our Narrative piece of writing that had a focus on plot, setting, and characters. Students used their self-assessments to create goals for their future writing pieces. We began working on timelines of our lives to note important events that have occurred. We will focus in on one life event as the basis for our next narrative writing piece. Science - We completed our Unit on Living Things and Energy. Students had a Science quiz on Friday, and we introduced our next Unit (Living Things and Ecosystems). Social Studies - We finished our Unit and worked through an open-book assessment. We will begin our next unit on Native Americans next week. Microsociety - Managerial interviews took place for all ventures. Managers were hired and were tasked with working with the CEO's to put together a job fair display. The job fair on Friday was a big success! Students had to complete resumes and job applications for positions in which they were interested. Check out our class photos page for pictures from the job fair! Comments are closed.
