Literacy - We continued our read aloud book, Maniac Magee. Students follow along, answering questions using reading group prompts in their Reading/Writing binders. This weeks focus was on identifying text-to-text and text-to-self events from the story.
Math - We continue doing daily multiplication drills to try help remember our math facts. Every student is showing progress! Please continue to practice multiplication facts at home. We worked in our interactive notebooks with a focus on multiplication comparisons Writing - We modeled identifying interesting leads (for our introductions) and conclusions. Students then took sticky notes and revisited old writing pieces to add new introductions and conclusions using our new strategies. We also did an exercise in identifying point-of-view with a focus on 1st person narratives Science - We continued our new unit "Living Things Need Each Other" with a focus on ecosystems and adaptations. Students were interested to learn how animals adapt to their environment and use camouflage and mimicry to evade predators! Social Studies - We continued our Chapter on Native Americans from the area. Students learned about how they lived and how jobs were split between male and female members of the tribe Microsociety - Ventures had production days to create products for our first marketplace opening. All students have jobs to complete, and our first marketplace opening was a big success on Friday! Look for pictures of operating ventures to be posted to our "Class Photos" section soon!
