Mr. Clermont's 4th grade class welcomed two new students, Nataly Mejias and Jade Bernazzani!
Literacy - We continued our read aloud book, Maniac Magee. Students follow along, answering questions using reading group prompts in their Reading/Writing binders. This weeks focus was on timeline of events and text sequencing. Math - We continue doing daily multiplication drills to try help remember our math facts. Every student is showing progress! Please continue to practice multiplication facts at home. We worked in our interactive notebooks with a focus on multiples and prime/composite numbers. We played math games (factor captor and multiplication war) to help reinforce our math facts. Writing - We finished our timeline of events related our lives. Students chose one event on which to focus, and made that the foundation of their current narrative writing piece. Students are using their self-assessments and goals to help improve their writing. Science - We began our new unit "Living Things Need Each Other" with a focus on ecosystems and plant/animal relationships. Students were interested to learn how animals adapt to their environment and use camouflage to evade predators! Social Studies - We started the next chapter with a focus on Native American tribes from New Hampshire. Many students were surprised to find we now live in an area once home to the Abenaki "Nashua" tribe! Microsociety - Employee interviews took place for all ventures. Managers and CEO's were tasked with conducting job interviews to excited would-be employees! Budgets were developed, and each venture has to put forth a bank loan application next week to get start-up funding! Check our class photos page for some pictures of student-led interviews.
